Communication Skills Training
Communication Skills Intensive Course
"Solution-Oriented Teamwork & Leadership Skills"
Dates to be announced
2 hours over 4 days
This course is for those who believe in a 'win-win' approach to life, where all involved parties benefit, and would like to improve their "problem-solving" skills when at work, at home or with friends.
Whether in a professional or personal setting, it is a normal occurrence for 'problems' to arise. These 'problems' can be re-considered as challenges or opportunities. A specified, succinct amount of time should be allocated to assessing and evaluating the 'problem', with the remaining amount of time dedicated toward coming up with solutions that can be implemented right away for swift and long-lasting results.
Ensuring that everyone involved is on the same page and moving in tandem with one another is key to achieving any goal, as well as to minimizing unforeseen hurdles along the way.
Become a great communicator by knowing how to:
- get your message across
- understand what the other person's message is
- alternate between 'leading' and 'following' for outstanding teamwork
- recognise and acknowledge different perspectives
- identify the common denominator among differing perspectives
- skillfully suggest which aspects of an idea can be discarded
- gather and consolidate the most effective ideas/suggestions for best results
- arrive collaboratively at the 'finish line' together
Interestingly, good communication with others starts with being able to communicate well with oneself first. If you know yourself, then the landscape of getting to know others becomes much more exciting and fruitful!

Time: 2:00pm to 4:00pm, EST

What is communication?
Communication is the act of delivering information from one party to another.
It is an exchange that takes place, where people share/present their ideas, thoughts, pieces of information, perspectives and messages. Communication involves the transmission of information through spoken and written activity, as well as signals that are conveyed silently through facial and physical expression.
High level proficiency in effective communication is a 'must' for working professionals, and also for those seeking to improve interactions both at social occasions and at home.
What are the benefits of good communication?
There are many benefits to having good communication skills:
1. Knowing how to resolve a misunderstanding or conflict as smoothly as possible.
2. Being able to communicate important information in an efficient way.
3. Being able to successfully establish a good social / professional network with others over the long-term.
4. Knowing how to maintain this network in person, over the phone, via the internet through e-mail, online conferences, and across social media platforms.
5. Knowing how far to go to work and improve on an interaction, and when to take a step back or step out.
Is communication important?
Yes, absolutely! When it comes to communication, every interaction , every transaction counts.
Why is good communication important?
Good communication plays a significant role in determining how smoothly or roughly a transaction with another person will be. If the communication is poor, it can lead to a complete breakdown in understanding and productivity. If the communication is good, it can lead to high productivity and a long-lasting relationship of trust. This trust would be the cumulative result of many positive and mutually beneficial experiences.
A Priceless Skill That Enhances Every Aspect of What it Takes to be a Good Communicator
Pausing to self-reflect is considered by some to be a threatening act and one not to be engaged in without the absolute necessity of doing so, such as when one is under threat of something else much greater. In other words, if what is at stake is far greater than the “painful” act of self-reflection, then a person will do the inner examination of the conscience to see how something might have gone wrong, or how something might have gone better if such and such had happened, or if such and such had not happened.
Self-Reflection
One might even delve more deeply and reflect on what one’s role has been in each situation. Though the stance of the “wronged one” is a popular position to take these days, there is something to be said for taking the position of one who has possibility and power on one’s side, and that going the extra step to see what forward-generating choice can be made to resolve a given problem is the far more satisfying and uplifting stance to take.
So, self-reflection may not be the most popular activity in this highly accelerated and increasingly 'bio-tech-y' age, but it is reasonable to say that it is a manifold, richly rewarding activity that has stood the test of time.
